Kids On Track Programs
(click on Program title for more info)

Kids On Track offers a unique blend of social, recreational, and spiritual programs. By offering this blend of programs each individual program becomes more effective than if it stood alone. This has been particularly valuable in building relationships with the families that we serve. The parents and children develop relationships with the volunteers and staff who are able to become mentors of at-risk children and youth.

School and Community Character Clubs

Schools in high needs areas welcome the additional support offered through our school clubs. The clubs may include a nutritious snack, homework help, games, bible stories, and learning activities. The children have the opportunity to make friends, develop supportive relationships with caring adults and experience a sense of belonging. Our staff and volunteers currently lead a weekly club at seven high needs elementary schools in Edmonton. Community Character clubs run on the Saturdays that there is no rally. These clubs are for any child that does not have a KOT School Character Club to attend.

Saturday Rally

The monthly rally is a significant gathering point for all of the kids attending the weekly clubs. This creative production of fast paced dramas, puppets, games and music is designed specifically to promote character development in children. The Rally is a time for kids to celebrate the Christian faith and reinforce what has been achieved in the weekly clubs.

Character Connex

When school principals are asking for support in reinforcing positive citizenship in their school, Character Connex is there. We offer school assembly presentations developed specifically to teach good character traits. This high-energy presentation captures all the senses, featuring video, skits, puppets, games, illusions and audience participation. Character Connex helps students leave with a better understanding of why honesty, kindness, respect, responsibility, as well as other good character traits are important to exercise and cherish.

Rainbows

When children and parents are trying to make sense of what has happened in their home as a result of divorce, Rainbows can help. This 11 week class helps kids work through the anger and emotional pain and provides strategies to help them cope with their new family situation. Parents learn how to respond supportively towards their children in this period of adjustment.

Family Support

When families are experiencing financial need it is difficult for them to enjoy a family celebration. Kids On Track helps by providing opportunities for families to celebrate at significant times of the year. Annual highlights are the Mothers Day tea, Christmas Party, Thanksgiving Dinner and Summer Picnic.

LITES (Leaders in Training Experience)

When youth are looking for a challenging, engaging opportunity to become involved in their community the LITE program is there for them. They work on leadership skills and character development that in turn will enhance their future career opportunities and current self-esteem. Training workshops, work experience and team building activities are all a part of the LITE program. Many graduates of our LITE program go on to become adult volunteers and summer staff.

LITE Summer Program

For Leaders in Training, the summer is filled with adventure, challenge, and a chance to get involved in transforming the community. During this intensive leadership training, youth discover that they really are "all that" and they can make a difference.

Summer Day Camps

When school is out and kids are bored our summer programs offer affordable, fun, safe activities. For six weeks needy children can get out of their neighborhoods and experience
all the wonderful places and activities that Edmonton has to offer.

Summer Camp

The summer culminates with a one-week camp filled with adventure, good food, and caring adults.
